When I first started to think about getting a set of heads, I was on the aluminum boat for sure. Then I started to hear about these Thumper ported heads. The more and more I read; the more I was convinced to try them.

The price tag can't be beat. So I bought them and I don’t have any second thoughts. The heads looked brand new, and the port work was second to none. Bolted them up and said WOW!! The first thing I noticed was the cam, I got the B cam with the heads. The idle was mean as hell, and the exhaust tone had totally changed. I could do nothing but smile. I wasn’t satisfied enough listening to it idle, so I took it out for a ride.

I did get on it a bit and spun through second like I was on ice, could have easily banged third but I took it easy. Can't wait to get it tuned and take it to the track to see the results!!! There is no question that with the mods I already have and these heads that I will be running 12's. All I can say is you did a great job Mike, and it was well worth the money. I'll keep you posted on any updates such as dyno #'s or track times!! Thanks again,
K

The Thumper/tmoss combo is awesome I have it and it has awesome torque pulls hard to 6k and i can break traction in third pretty easy. Its a blast to drive even with passingers in the car it runs hard and pulls strong. AND Thumpers heads are far from maxed out they are ported alot but you can still add bigger valves and other things to make em grow with combo. I got an email from a guy running mid 11's on thumpers heads..they threw him off track after first pass! No cage.

The discussion was on the ported heads being "Maxed out" and no room to grow!!

Hey Mike whats up this is Mitch, just to let you know I have everything put back together and my car seems to be running really strong, tried to see what she had in her after I ran it around for a while to get everything lubed up ( running SAE 40 Royal Purple ) and I all could do is smoke the hell out of the tires I guess I will have to put the slicks on and take it to the track this weekend and see what she turns, but it is running really strong, stronger than ever......It seems to me that she has opened up a little,it has a different sound to it and lopes like a mother...lol......I had the B 303 cam in it for a while but it never sounded or acted like it does now,, ? Well I guess I have talked your ear off enough, but I just wanted to let you know it is running really strong...
Many thanks,
MB
P.S.- Bad ass heads man!!! lol

Mike, i figured i'd let ya know how my car ran once the heads were on. I finally got it up and running on Saturday and took it for a quick spin. Thats exactly all i did was spin!!! What a world of difference from stock!! The cam sounds crazy, and the car is louder than ever, which i love. Unfoutunately i dont have any numbers yet, the track is still closed, but i will be in touch to keep you informed on how they are doing for me. Once i get some good rubber underneath her i should be able to really guage the performance increase!! Thanks for the great job Mike.

Mike,
Hey what's up man? This is Francis, from Nebraska again. Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know of my new best 1/4 times that i ran with your heads. Ran it on Friday the 19th up at scribner. First and only run, busted off a 11.88@116mph with just a 100 shot of nitrous, and only 6 degrees timing running on pump gas. I bogged my launch pretty bad too. I would have liked to have seen a 11.6 or better out of it, but after one run in the 11s with no cage, the track officials told me i was done until i get a cage. So i already have a 10pt purchased, just waiting to install. A reminder on the mods i am running. 3.55 gears, b-303 cam, the thumper heads, 1.7 roller rockers, TFS street heat upper, long tubes, MSD6AL, 65mm T/B, 76mm MAF, and a few other bolt ons. I was really happy, b/c i am still running a stock 93 hyperueatectic bottom end, stock clutch, and stock 5 speed tranny. As well as a bone stock suspension. My sixty times suffered, and was only a 1.8 on my nitrous pass. I am working on a new suspension though, and hope to cut about 1.5s by the next time i go to the track. Anyhow, just thought i would let you know how well you heads are working out for me. I'll let you know if (when) i get some better times once they let me run again. My goal is to see 10s by October. Hope to build a 331c.i. stroker, but keep everything else basically the same. With the stroker, will run atleast a 150 shot, if not 200. So hopefully the better suspension, forged bottom end, and lots of nitrous will get me to the 10s. Later man!
F.H.
LOL... i know this is an OLD topic, but i just thought it was cool someone quoted me. Mike from Thumper sells a great product btw. I hope everyone has as good experience with him as i did!

What customers say… MINI’s

Mileage with heads is BETTER

“The mileage, when I keep my foot out of it has gotten better!

The first week I had it I saw about 23mpg, naturally because I was beating on it.

However:

On the way up to Thumper's, I saw 27.3 mpg from Tampa to Jax. That was with many (5 or 6) 75-120mph passes.

On the way back, between Orange Park and Ocala, I saw 28.7mpg (calculated by filling up and dividing the distance) Between Ocala and Tampa, According to the OBC I saw 28.1

That is better than the car was stock.”

POSTED SSM 12/06 …

Supporting mods will help make more power. One of the reasons why you see manufactures show a range of power estimates.

Look at it this way:

Lets say you bolt on one of his heads to a stock motored mini. Lets entertain ourselves and say he picked up 12whp on the dyno. OMG this head must not be that great only 12whp. What you have to understand is that when someone like Thumper says his product will make 18-30hp, its pretty much implied these days that you have the supporting mods to take full advantage.

Since this head breathes better, the engine is now being limited in power production because of the exhaust / intake and tuning.

So take the same scenario, but the next car has headers, cat back a cold air intake and a 15% pulley. Lets say they pick up 20whp. Now this same head rocks because the person was able to take advantage of the extra flow that a head provided.

Lets change it up a bit. Lets say you were in the stock mini that now has the head added. You go out and see the pulley claims a 7-10whp increase. So you add the pulley and dyno again and pick up 15 whp. Wow how did the pulley do so much? It is because the head took advantage of the extra air you were putting in the motor.

If I had to do all of this over again, I would have done the head first. Even though its not the cheapest mod, it is one of the best for the money. Aside from the pulley or nitrous will you not find a better bang for the buck for this car.

The bottom line is that the head will make the most of any mods that you do. If you start with that, you will see much higher gains for each mod you do since those mods will likely work better with the better head.

_ 2004 MINI Cooper “S”

Here are the results of Ported Thumper Performance

Head on my 04 Mod’d MINI. Quarter mile time dropped from 15.4 et’s @ 93 mph to a 14.9 @ 96 mph. Of course the 60 fts were as usual.. bad!! (edit: Wheel HP went from 187 WHP to over 211 WHP ( 240+ BHP !) see Dyno run. )

Thanks Thumper .

Thumper performance head installed - Wow!

Yesterday I had a new head installed on my 06 Cooper S, and the shrick swapped over to it.

The car is freaking unleashed! The seat of the pants dyno says that this thing is unreal.

Prior to getting the head done my best pull was 196.4whp/173tq with the following mods:

JCW injectors/ecu software, shrick cam, megan header, milltek exhaust, Random Tech cat, Alta CAI, IC, 17%, 0% lw crank pulley.

Next weekend I plan on getting it dynod at my usual dyno just to see what kinda numbers it is putting down. I can happily/sadly say traction is an issue in first gear!

All I can say is that the car is unbelievable now. I already had the laundry list of mods and just wanted to be above the 200whp net. I definitely think I have surpassed this, but we will see next weekend. 2nd gear has crazy pull now, and 5th and 6th on the interstate will get you around just about anything. I cant wait till the next track event to see how the low end jump helps pull out of the corners in 2nd!!!
